ABOUT ME

Week4.6-3706.jpg

If you asked me, years ago, what I wanted to be when I grew up, I doubt I’ve had said a photographer. The idea was intriguing, but I’d always been drawn to writing as my primary creative outlet. I didn’t want to be a journalist, or a blogger. I wanted to write novels.  I loved telling stories about people I’d never met, writing the intricacies of their relationships down to memory. I wrote life stories that I deemed beautiful, novel, worthy.  As my own life grew in front of me, I began capturing moments with an entry level dslr, hopeful I'd have enough images to fill albums to pass on to later generations. Instead what I found was that I had a new way to tell stories. I was skilled in capturing moments. Though I dreaded posing, and begging my friends to model for me, I found myself suddenly noticing the way the light bounced off a bare shoulder and falling in love with the way my eleven-year-old threw her head back when she laughed. I realized that all the characters I had been creating in my head where real people I knew. I wrote about how light danced in their eyes when they looked at someone they loved without realizing I could see it for myself. I am drawn to moments. Documenting life as it occurred, just as I always had, but this time in the visual realm. Becoming a photographer was the missing piece I never knew was missing. In the two years I have been operating my business, I have continued to fall in love with what I do.

I love getting to tell your story. Is it corny if I say I found something that ignites me? Maybe, but I’d be telling the truth. I just want to take your picture.

Timing

The Moment

Time of day and quality of ambient light are important considerations for capturing the mood I most prefer. I choose to shoot most where direct sunlight can be avoided. My style is warm and vibrant, I prefer sunrise and sunset coloring. These times of day produce images that are consistent with the majority of my work and are in line with the style I am recognized for.

I take pride in calling myself a storyteller. That's why I am less interested in posing you than capturing your personalities in images you can cherish forever. The moment is what makes an image a memory. Your story deserves to be told. Let me tell it.
